Default O5 xc90 left rear wheel locked up

My 05 xc90s left rear wheel was locked up this morning. The car drove perfectly friday when my wife drove it home, parked it in the garage where it sat all weekend. She got in it this morning to back it out and it made a horrible noise in the left rear. Tried to pull it forward and the left rear just slid. It is awd , I pulled the caliper, thinking it might have picked up a rock, but nothing. what are the possibillaties?? I have had no brake problems at all and the e-brake is seldom if ever used. Thanks for your help!!

never did it on a volvo, but if they are the typical Euro car type, it helps to have the tool to compress/hold the springs. it is available at any auto parts store. I did it without on another car and it wasn't easy. I'll bet there are youtube videos (again I'm guessing they are the same type as used on Mercedes, Porsche, etc.) showing how to do job. you need to use star wheel adjuster to make sure it holds when brake pulled but doesn't drag when off.
