Default Position bulb failure

My position bulb failure light comes on intermittently. Sometimes days go by without a warning. When the warning comes on, the two passenger side rear position lights are out. I swapped the two bulbs with the ones on the drivers side and they work there just fine, while the drivers side bulbs put on the passenger side have the same issue. So I know it is not the bulbs. License plate and all other bulbs work all the time. What else can I check? Very frustrating. This is a XC90 2011
