Rear Entertainment System replacement
 

Hey guys, I bought a usted 2006 Volvo XC90, but the RSE seeams not to work. No remote and no headphones. So I was thinking to keep the screens and replace the DVD player. I was thinking about changing the DVD unit with a 1DIN unit with Android, if I find one with AV out or install a used PS3. Ford anyone ver done that ? Will the monitors work without the DVD unit ? Or shall I rather get a replacement remote and some IR headphones ? Thanks for your comments

Following - we got a used 2006 last year with the same issue. I grabbed a used (confirmed working) DVD drive off a junk XC90 but it won't marry to our car - tech says you have to buy the "complete" unit to get anything close to the stock set-up to work. So my thought was find a car with a working system being sold for parts/ cheap, and swap the entire front seat/ console set-up and hope that works. But this sounds way better if it works.
