I have a 04 Volvo XC90. Everytime im driving, the vehicle bounces and I can hear a very annoying squeaky sound that comes from the suspensions. The mechanic had told me that the strut mount rubber bushing has been damage and need to be replace. Can anyone please confirm if the new replacement part from the picture below is the right part i need to buy. Thanx in advance.

 

That is the spring seat. It is a fat rubber seat for the spring to push against underneath the bearing. You need to replace the strut mount bearing as well. They commonly go bad. I would not go with a cheap economy model. Spend the extra money and get a OEM.

You appear to be on the right track. There is also a rubber bushing that goes on top of the bearing, they are cheap. You should probably get a couple of those too. Good luck, I did my XC70 a few months ago. Doing it yourself will save you big time and $$.

let me know how that go's i have an 03 with a clunk when i hit a bumb. pretty sure that seat and bushing is the issue but would like some feed back from someone with the same car.

 

For a week now I have been hearing creaks every time I hit a bump.. It is annoying.. $20 is the cost for strut mount bushing,is that really the average cost?? since my friend is offering me one that cost $15..

 

I can tell you that lower quality replacements cost about $40 and good one about $80 each. I learned this lesson the hard way with a 2000 S70 about installing the low quality parts and replaced them 18 months later. I just ordered the OEM units from IPD for my 2000 V70XC and luckily my wifes 2004 XC90 is holding up well so far.

The strut spring mount also will often give out as well and expect to pay about about $35-$50 for a quality replacement.
