Throttle Body Problems After Cleaning

I'm wondering if I ruined my throttle actuator while cleaning it. I had everything apart to put on a new oil trap so I decided to clean things out. Here are my codes. Your ideas and help are greatly appreciated. I had most of these codes before I did the the cleaning. I have looked at the translations, these are just the ones from my generic scanner. My vehicle is the 2.5L turbo

How did you clean it?

Ryan Baker 04-16-2015 07:53 PM

We used a product by Gum-Out it was called Air Intake and throttle body cleaner. We did have it completely off the vehicle. We sprayed that then scrubbed it with a tooth brush. The part that worried me was that my dad wanted to move the flapper to get some more of the gunk off. I'm wondering if that ruined the motor on it?

Spraying it might have messed it up. You should spray a rag and wipe it and repeat until clean.

You think its a goner or do you think there is any hope of reviving it?

ES6T 04-17-2015 05:23 AM

Not sure how you would revive it. Did you clear the codes?

Ryan Baker 04-17-2015 11:39 AM

yeah just kind of wishful thinking. I didn't know if I could tear it all back apart and move the flapper back to the close position or not. I know that probably wouldn't fix it either, just more wishful thinking. The weird thing with the codes it wouldn't let me clear 2 of them. I have never ran into not being able to clear some codes. I've also never had my vehicles go into that reduced engine performance mode either. I didn't know if thats what made it unable to clear them or what.

ha!! I just did that. Mines throwing the p2111 code. I can clear it, it runs fine, next key cycle comes back

I’m also having that issue. Just cleaned it. Start up rough idle, clear codes, runs perfectly. Did you ever find a solution
