Default 2010-2014 1st Gen. XC90 Search/Shopping Questions

HI, We miss our Volvo and years ago had a 2007 Ruby Red Metallic 3.2 AWD. Over the years, my Wife has owned 5 other Volvo Wagons.

Looking to find a 2010-2014 XC90 (last of the 1st Gen) and have a few questions:

(1) If No Navigation it does not have a Backup Camera. So, what aftermarket back-up camera or audio display with back-up camera might your recommend. We really need the help of a Back-up Camera for backing in garage.

(2) I see Standard Leather, Platinum Leather (pleated with piping) and some other kind of upgraded leather. Which version has held-up the best over time in Light Beige?

(3) AWD Engine 3.2 (serpentine belt) or V-8 (Timing Belt). These engines seem to be preferred for these years. Is this correct?

Besides service records, tire, brakes, battery system what specific items should be understood before buying? I think they may be:• Upper Torque Mount
• Vacuum Mount Seals
• PCV Oil Separator
• Power Steering Pumps

Thank you for your help with my search!

1 - If you want a backup camera - you should buy the newest xc60 you can afford that has one already installed. Or a later xc70 (2013?-2015) that has the center screen. Or be prepared to deal with a xc90 sound system - it's on a fiber optic bus and aftermarket systems can work ok - for most functions (you will lose the parking sensors and may lose steering wheel controls if you go aftermarket)
2. - The beige leather can look like crap after just a few years - it really depends on how it is treated. Be careful that the car you purchase has not had the leather "re dyed" That's just more or less a spray paint that cracks and can look bad quickly.
3. I would vote for the 3.2 engine. Unfortunately the turbo version is not available in a xc90, but is in a xc60 or xc70. The v-8 is cool, sounds great - and seemed to be reliable. (with exception of the early engines) Was only used for a few years.

Thank you for the reply hoonk!

On Backup-Camera: seems if wanting 1st Gen xc90 better to get with Nav/Camera option vs. aftermarket solution?

The more I look the more I am thinking 203 or 2014 in 3.2 or V8 AWD with Platinum Package. The search continues ...

I have an s100 (8" display, GPS, Bluetooth, Backup Camera, DVD, SD, DVR, etc). It's a Windows CE version mounted in the center spearker in the console. No need to worry about din trim and such. The unit fits in perfectly in place of the speaker. It's old, but it does the trick nicely and came with all T harnesses to tie into the stereo nicely.

There are newer Android versions. Wish I had that. Aftermarket is where it's at IMO.
