Hi all,
Tried to help debug a headlight porblem with my sisters 2002 2.4D at the weekend and thought the guidance might be good for the data banks.

Symptom: both HID dipped beam HIDs failed at same time.
Observations:
- all other lights and controls OK
- Fuses OK in drivers dashboard end-cheek & engine-bay fuseboxes.
- 12v verfied to be reaching the headlight assembles on middle upper pin of quick-release connector at rear of headlights. This signal disappeared when the lights were switched off so we elimininated the light switch, fuses and relays in one hop.
- HID elements removed but no visbile failure points could be detected except a grey colouration in the centre 'blob'.

Solution: changed the HID elements, all OK. Volvo are currently charging GBP125 each and only 2 left in outer London area.

We still dont know why they failed, or indeed failed at the same time. proabably original units and just worn out. There are a lot of speed-bumps around my sisters house though...

I had the same problem with my 04 XC90 T6, Low beam HID bulb failure.

Got a replacement pair from this site for USD15.
I replaced them both, works great now.
