I bought a Pioneer AVH-1330NEX car audio receiver and was told by the Car Installers that they are unable to add my receiver to the Volvo due to the Fiber Optics!!!! Is there a way I could add my Pioneer to replace my OEM radio (very antiquated). Any suggestions ?????
I am probably late with this. But, I just logged on with another problem and saw it.
I installed a 7 inch DD Kenwood stereo with back up camera in my 2005 XC90. all is perfect, no problems at all. NO Dash modifying. IT is awesome........
Go to YOUTUBE. there is a video by a Stereo shop that has done these and it great. There is a way to do it and not modify anything.
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DISTURB THE OPTICS AT ALL.
"How to Replace the Radio in Volvo XC90" The guy does nice work.
There are no stereo shops around me who will do this so I did it myself. I followed the video very closely
Thanks for the info about Dynamic Sounds Ltd in the UK. I just ordered a kit to convert my '08 Volvo V70 OEM radio to a single DIN aftermarket radio. I found another company in the USA that sells a similar kit but it's twice the price. I have been searching the net for days trying to find parts that would allow an aftermarket radio to be installed. https://www.dynamicsounds.co.uk/conn...618853271.html
Just figured i would throw this out there as there seems to be a lot of questions about this on the internet, but no real solution. An aftermarket double-din radio will fit the XC90 and they actually do make a kit. I started out with single-din metra kit only to be disappointed with the quality and the match to the dash, not to mention cutting it for the double-din radio didn't exactly look good. Came across a company in the UK that sells a true DD kit, $85 to the door. Quality, fit, and texture match is perfect, even in my 2005 (says 06 and up). only catch was there is a lip in the dash that had to be trimmed for the radio to slide all the way in. did a touchscreen kenwood monitor, unbelievable difference in sound!
So the kit comes with everything needed to keep the steering wheel buttons working, backup sensors and all that fun stuff? Did you loose the time on the instrument cluster?
Does anyone know if the rear entertainment system (dvd player in center console, dual monitors on driver and passenger headrests) is able to work with an aftermarket radio receiver put in?
Trying to find any information on my stock stereo in my 2004 Xc90. So my husband was going to hook my stock stereo to my subs so he took apart my dash area where my radio goes and figured out he needed a specific cord to do so. He put it all back together and when he did everything works as in my other controls but I can’t get my stereo to turn on now! We have checked fuses and just aren’t sure what else it could be. Thanks this is my first time posting on here. I have fixed almost every issue I’ve had with my Volvo thru these Forums. I appreciate all you knowledgeable people that help us with our everyday problems. Super grateful.
double check all the connections at the bnack of the unit to ensure they're fully seated.
You have an '04, so it'll be Type B wiring.
The semi stiff orange "wires" are fibre optic cables and they require a decent radius to avoid damage. If he overbent them they would corrupt the signal but that would typically result in an error, not zero power.
Pay particualr attention to the green connector at the top. Ensure the pins didn't get bent (they're narrow and fragile) and, again, that it has a firm connection.
