xc90 wont move in drive

xc90 wont move in drive
our xc90 wont move when in drive but will reverse as normal and works in manual. we have tried removing the centre console and opening up the gear stick area hoping to find a broken spring or something but it all looks good. has anyone else had this problem and any suggestions on how to fix it.
