CA: 12th Annual Davis Car Show / Swap Meet & Autocross
 
Hi Everyone,

Lots of information to pass on regarding event details and volunteering opportunities:

Autocross - Saturday, May 1, 2010

The Autocross event is new this year.
Sacramento Area VCOA member, Mark Baldwin is diligently organizing this event.

Meeting location:
3905 Alert Road
Mather, CA 95655

The event will be held at the City of Sacramento operated “Emergency Vehicle Operations Center,” near Douglas Avenue and Mather Blvd. at Mather Air Force Base adjacent to Rancho Cordova and about 10 miles to the southeast of downtown Sacramento.

Meeting time:
7:30A - Drivers meeting

On Saturday, the event will start at 7:30 AM with a drivers meeting, and then the participants will be separated into A & B teams, with the A team starting at 8:00 AM, the B team taking over later in the morning and the entire event concluding by 1:00 PM.

Registration & Fees:
You can pre-register on the Golden Gate VCOA's (GGVCOA) website and save some money (you must have a PayPal account-- be sure to bring your PayPal receipt with you to Sacramento as proof of payment).

The pre-registration fee is $20 / vehicle for VCOA members and $25 / vehicle for non-members.

Note:
Helmets are required.
As of Wednesday, 4/21/2010, we are working on some loaners, but don't have confirmation just yet if they will be made available.

If you have any spare helmets, please bring them with you on the day of the event!

12th Annual Davis Car Show and Swap Meet - Sunday, May 2, 2010

Now in its 12th year, the Annual Davis Car Show & Swap Meet is one of the larger events on the West Coast,
drawing 100+ members from Southern CA all the way up to the state of Washington and across the Sierras to
the state of Nevada.

All Volvos are welcome whether they be a work-in-progress, a daily driver, showroom beauty, or a highly
modified (race) car.

Volunteers are also needed for the following:

Friday, April 30th (Autocross):
-Set up cones, test drive course


Saturday, May 1st (Autocross):

-Gate Worker: Collect entry fees from participants in the morning

-Checklist Inspector: Make sure that participants vehicles are properly equipped and that rules of the track are understood and followed.

-Event Marshals: Assure that safety functions in and around the course are followed at all times.

-Track Volunteers: Maintain the course and coordinate the drivers. Typically the A team will help the B team and vice versa.


Sunday, May 2nd (Davis Car Show and Swap Meet):

This is the most visited Volvo event held in Northern California every year. For us to be successful, we need your help! We are seeking volunteers on May 2nd who are willing to help us set up and oversee a number of functions. We are asking volunteers to serve in 90 minute blocks for these posts:

-Gate/Parking (direct drivers to correct parking area or collect entry fees and hand out registration packets)
7 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. (four people needed)
8:15 to 9:30 a.m. (four people needed)
9:30 to 10:30 a.m. (four people needed)

-Concessions (sell donuts/coffee on early shifts, lunch on later shifts)
7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. (three people needed)
8:30 to 10:00 a.m (three people needed)
10:00 to 11:30 a.m. (three people needed)
11:30 to 1:00 p.m. (three people needed)

-Registration/Raffle (sell raffle tickets and chapter merchandise, accept People's Choice ballots)
7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. (one person needed)
8:30 to 10:00 a.m (two people needed)
10:00 to 11:30 a.m. (two people needed)
11:30 to 1:00 p.m. (three people needed; can use one additional from 12 Noon to 1 p.m. for ballot tallying work)

-Photographer (takes high-quality digital photos for chapter website, inclusion in Rolling article on Meet)
9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (one person needed)
