96 960 wheels/tires ok for my 96 850 glt?
So I had some dry rot going on BAD on my 850 front tires. My neighbors 960 went out on him. He is having the scrappers take it tomorrow so I just swapped out my wheels/tires for his because he is awesome. Tomorrow I may salvage some other parts but in any case, this is about the wheels and tires. Mine were 195/60/15 and his are 205/55/16. Definitely fills the gap better but I am just wondering if it is okay. I noticed one had the studs and mine had the stupid lug/stud combo. Everything went on okay but just was curious because if I have to swap back, I have to do it tomorrow sometime. I did it quick in the dark and rain so didn't tighten too much on mine so couldn't take for much of a test but didn't get any rubbing turning tight.
Also, any problems with speedo? Don't have to worry about my odometer because its an 850...not like the darn thing works anyways! |
No problem. Many run them for years. I did it for a short while myself.
As for speed, simply check the speed on your GPS. |
Thanks so much, I was hoping so after I was outside in the cold rain last night swapping them by hand with one jack...yeah that was fun! However my neighbor was awesome and while they aren't the best tires, I had 2 with dry rot down the center between the tread! So saved me a bunch of money and I get some more hella flush looking rims LOL hahahhaa on my 1000 DD. Gonna try to salvage his glove box if it is same also since mine stuck shut and I used the brute force method to open it :). Wish he didn't smoke like a chimney or I'd get the headliner too!
Thanks again for the quick reply, now after this I get to do the struts, upper seats, passenger axle and not have to worry about my tires also :-) |
You can get the roof liner. If it's clean, find someone with one of those ozone machines and it will remove all of the odor from it.
