Like the video linked in the original post, I did the same with the Black/orange cable but without a “bridge”. Just cut like 2cm plastic off on each end and twisted the ends together firmly and then tape it hard few layers. Now it works first try each time I press the button from the outside to unlock the trunk :) Hope this helps anyone stumbling across this post!
