I just got some 18x8 inch rims and when i put them on my car with no tires the rim is very very close to the srut tower. I think i need to buy some tires that either go stright up or in!. but any advice? or should will i be ok with 225/40-18? The back rims are fine. its only the front ones that im worried about
Well with 18" rims there is going to be some rubbing. You can order some spacers to gain more room but it will increase your turning radius. With an 8" wide rim I don't think you could go with a tire narrower than the 225. There are some drawbacks to looking good.

Ya i was goin to expect some draw backs hahaha. but thanks for the input i knew there would be some sort of rubbing.. o well so the 225 wont rub ALOT?!
I just upgraded the wheels from 16" to 17" on my S60. I'm running 225/45/17 tires. I haven't noticed any rubbing yet. But having read a number of posts about the larger wheels rubbing on the S60's I make a concerted effort to not go to full lock on turns, unless I absolutely have to. The amount of rubbing will depend on your driving style and how hard you turn. I don't know whether the 18" wheels will create more rubbing.
