Hi! Just replaced my "02 Jeep GC with an "05 XC 90. I've had four previous jeeps, but my wife wanted the Volvo this time. The dealership was a pleasure to deal with, and gave me a great deal. All my Jeeps, and my X-type Jaguar have automatic locking that locks all doors when the vehicle reaches 5 mph. My XC owners manual lists this feature as an option, however, I can't find it either as a stand alone option or part of a package. No one at the dealership,(Rusnak, Pasadena, CA) has heard of the feature, yet it appears in the manual.

Can you help?

Thanks,

Niel

When that option first came to fruition several years ago it was called "Detroit locking"............named as such because of all the car jacking that originated in Detroit. My Volvo is 3 years older than yours and my handbook specifically indicates that since a Volvo utilizes dead bolts in the doors, they were not to be locked while under way. Obviously they have no concept of Detroit where only those without a big gun would be foolish enough to drive without locking the doors. So.................I highly suspect that the option that your owners manual refers to in reality, does not exist.

The function is avalible alot of people don't know about it.It will have to have software downloaded to activate the function.
It took me an hour to find it the first time a Customer requisted it be activated.
Ask them to find the software and if they can't find it tell them to call tech hotline and they will help them find it.
The bad news is they might charge you $30.00 for the software and a half hour for the labor.

I got the auto door locking recently. 54€ !! for 5 min work.

Press your salesman to do it without charge as a prove of willing to keep good customer's relation.

Good luck!. Regards

Thanks for all your help. The dealer has the software, although the Service Manager didn't know anything about it. Several of the service advisors did however, and set up an appointment to install it. Cost is $40 for the software plus one hour labor. The Store GM is giving me 20% off for "good relations".

Thanks again,

Niel

They should only be charging you a 1/2 hours.
Warranty pays .3 for a software download.

Thanks, I'll mention this to the Service Manager, and forward a copy of this to the store owner if necessary.

Does anyone know of any other optional, programmable features other than the auto-locking doors?
