My mother has a 1998 S90 that has the check engine light on and intermittantly the transmission malfunction light flashes with the W/S/E light in the shifterflashing alternately. The check engine light is throwing a code for the speed sensor. So far the speed sensor, transmission shift selector and ignition switch have been replaced. The problems came back a few weeks later with the check engine light staying on and the other lights only flashing intermittantly which has always been the case. Does anybody have any clues?

Same exact problems here, except for the speed sensor mention. I don't know why my check engine light is on but I have had the same intermittent problem with the transmission warning lights and the WSE lights flashing. However, the transmission faults go off and do not particularly seem to indicate be serious. I've also seen my radio warning light come on right after starting and then shortly thereafter turn off. Check the fluid levels and looks fine. [shrug]

How did you get the speed sensor code? Do you have an OBD II reader? I was tempted to buy a cable/software just to figure out what is going on with the check engine light.

The PNP switch might be bad.

Tech is right...I have a known issue with my PNP switch, and it WILL exibit the flashing arrow and W/S/E lights from time to time. My transmission is fine, switch is going. So, it COULD be your switch.
