I have 1998 S90. I need to replace the gear position sensor because I got transmission codes P0715 and P0705. Where is the gear position sensor located? Any suggestions on replacing gear position sensor by oneself? Thanks.
The gear position sensor is on the passenger side of the transmission. There is 1 12MM screw holding it on. Also loosen the big nut on the PNP. The plug goes up over the top of the tranny. When you install the new one hook an Ohm meter to the red and blue wires and make sure that it that beeps and make sure it is beeping when you tighten the bolt.
That will make sure it is set correctly.

Thanks for the info. I have never touched S90 tranny before. Could you give me a little bit more details of the procedures. Some one told me that I have
to first remove the battery and air filter box. But some other one told me that that is for Volvo 850.
Yes thats for a 850. Like I stated above yours is on the side of the transmission. The tranny is under the car. The PNP switch is on the passenger side.

Hi, Tech, thanks for the tips. I removed the 12mm screw and the 22mm big nut. The PNP switch now can rotate, but cannot be pull out.
Any tips for pull it out? Do we need any specical tools to pull out the switch? Thanks.
Sometimes it is a major pain due to rust on the shaft.
