First of all, I am new here so hello to you all.

Secondly, my question - if anyone can help?

I bought my V70 (2000 X Model) a week ago and last night the dash mounted cup holder that used to have a ratchet type mechanism to 'grip' the container in there has stopped working (leaving the 'grips' wide open and the drink loose), is there a clip or similar that I have accidentaly knocked or is it broken?

If it is broken, is there a quick fix?

Any assistance would be greatfully appreciated.

Are you sure you have a 2000 V70? They do not have dash mounted cup holders. The cup holders for the front seats in a 2000 V70 are slid out of the center armrest between the front seats. This style cup holder is rather flimsy and often breaks. The parts are so small that there isn't a decent fix other than replacing the whole double cup holder mechanism. Cheapest fix is to find one at a U-pull it place for a few bucks. Folks on e-bay will try to sell them for around $50. I'm too cheap so I bought a cup holder from Auto-Zone that has a large plastic 'flap' if you will, that wedges between the passenger seat and positions the cups to the right of the emergency break handle, behind the shift lever. Its a $5-10 fix and looks pretty good.

Thanks for the reply, but mine is definately in the dash, it is the type that you push and it pops out. and then has a ratchet type mechanism to grip the cup (it is the ratchet that has broken)

It is a V70 and it is a 2000 model (i am in the UK if this makes any difference?)
