So how do I reupholster the headliner???
I have a 1987 740 GLE wagon and the roof is disintegrating every time i drive with the windows down. I need to replace it as cheaply as possible.
Can I go to a cheap interior car repair to do something sufficient for cheap?
Or how do I do it myself? I have been reading about other cars being able to remove the headliner board and replacing the fabric and adhesive then reinserting the board but I have a sun roof and the little light.
Can anyone give me any insight on what to do???
thanks

I replaced mine it's a two person job, when it comes to gluing up the fabric to the head board, clean off the old glue as best you can . I sprayed both board and fabric for a better hold.both get resprayed every five minutes four total three coats, then layout, the help comes in to hold the fabric up while you press down to the board as you go. the hard part is remembering were all the screws go and brackets. get good glue cost me around $20 a can only need one. If you have a sun roof 12 feet if not 10 should do this is were

Hey, I read your awesome procedure and am planning on reupholster my 87 wagon once I get time and the materials.
I'm wondering what kind of fabric i should use. I was surprised to see that you used cotton, i assumed there was a special fabric that stretches and glues correctly.
So do you think i could use what ever fabric I find? I want to get something with a cool design or graphic on it, so I might have to use what ever i can get.
what should i look for as far as type of material, thickness, stretchiness, etc.?
