Hello All,

I am deciding between two 'certified pre-owned' XC70s -- a 2002 w/ 33K mi (asking price $23.5K) and a 2004 w/ 26K mi (asking price $29.5K). Both bought and serviced at this dealership. The prices are a bit high but we'll bargain. Both physically in good condition (minor seat problem in one -- dealer said he would fix).

Any suggestions re: questions I should be asking dealer that are particular to these models (this will be my first Volvo)?

I have a 2001 XC70 I bought new in 2001. It had some minor trim issues that were covered under the bumper to bumper warranty. No mechanical issues at all. That being said, there is apparently an issue with the electronic control module that monitors fuel /air mix to the engine.Volvo has extended the warranty to 10 years /200,000 miles on this part.I would recommend that you pay a little extra and extend the Volvo warranty to 100k, if you are planning to keep the car.Also, I found that the Pirelli Scorpion tires that my XC came with rode rough and were noisy. I took them off at 25k and replaced with Michelin Hydroedge.Other than that it is a great car. Good luck. BJ

Recommend you to buy the 2004 since there are more options on that vehicle than 2002.
