Hi, I just purchased a '93 960 and I like it alot, but every time I go to start it I have to crank the starter for awhile (5 or more seconds), and then it will start to fire and usually have low RPM's and either sputter out or slowly come to life. If I try to press the accelerator at all the engine dies, in fact, if I have the pedal pushed at all while I turn the key it wont even crank,(this may be a Volvo thing I dont know yet). Anyway, the engine light is on but I haven't pulled the codes yet. Just wondering if anyone has had this happen to them and have any ideas[:-]...electrical, vaccume, idle valve. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
On a side note the little bell chime that goes on when the door is open wont shut off and its driving me bonkers..[:@]! any ideas on this one would help too, thx again!

The first thing to do is have the codes pulled it might be a bad mass flow sensor or something like that it is hard to say.Once you pull codes you will know where to go.

The door chime thing does you interior lights stay on to? if so the switch in the door jam is most likely bad.

Is the check engine light on?
Has the throttle body been cleaned?
Has it had a tune up?
