I am curious, I just paid off my 2005 s40 2.4i but an also hungry for a bit more power and performance customization. Would it be worth trading my car in for the same year but the T5 version and getting into another loan for like 7k? (For the difference)

That depends on how much you want power. All the cosmetics and handling you can do on the 2.4i. There is not too much you can do to boost power on the 2.4i.
