How do I remove the Bosch FI ECU for the '90 240?
Hi,
I'm looking for a new ECU/Computer Box for a Volvo 240 DL 1990. I found one at a salvage yard, but have had zero luck on being able to get it out. My tools don't really fit into the back to unscrew it out of the car. What kind of tool would be good to get that older ECU out?
Thanks

Well, unless they went to Torx bits in 90, it's just a matter of a few Phillip's screws. You may be overthinking it and trying to remove the bracket as well as the ecu. You already have the bracket; to remove only the ecu is pretty basic. Standard #2 Phillips.
The red circles indicate where the 4 (or less if it's been molested) screws are.

I believe the '90 models had torx screws - at least mine does. If you have a '90, look in your toolkit that came with the car. There should be a red screwdriver that has a white cap on the end. Remove the cap and inside you should find torx bits for it. One should fit.
If you don't have your original toolkit, look around in the car in the junkyard. Perhaps there is one there. Check any late model 740s or 940s. They should have the same screwdriver in their toolkit.
