AC issues
1997 960...part of my problem with the AC is vacuum related...when I am running the AC and I am in driving mode any pressure on the gas pedal shuts off the air until i let off the gas...I know the AC unit itself is working properly ...BUT I have the heater control valve still open thus the hot water is still circulating thru the cold water side.. 1) is this heater control valve faulty because of the vacuum leak else where in the system or has it also failed and in need of a replacement? 2) where can i find a schematic of the entire refrigeration sytem? The airflow through the vents even when the system isnt stressed by the gas pedal...is still not as strong as it should be and I'm sure thats due to whatever diaphrams or rubber parts that are perished...
EDIT...I found the info in a thread i previously started...Wow getting old ...CRS was kicking in...anyway it appears that yes the heater Control valve is actuated by a vacuum bellows...I know the solenoids are working... as all the functions work from the switches..I know the refrigeration unit is fully charged and the condensor is very cold...so this is vacuum...now I need to find the souce of the leak...

the issue is the vacuum motor on the drivers side of the climate control unit part #9463042. It does as you describe when the engine is under load (low vacuum condition) Unfortunately - these are no longer available - but I might be able to locate some NOS units from other Volvo dealers.

Hi bne
I explain here how to stop vacuum to all the vacuum bellows so that you can see if the water valve then closes.
