Help! Test Drive 2006 S 40 automatic
I need some help with this. I test drove a nice S40 today car runs and drives nice but when starting out in low it makes a lot of noise in the front lower right side. Not sure why, maybe a bad wheel bearing or bad axle? Anyone else ever experience this. Also idles high when first started then drops down to normal idle speed, is this normal?
Would the tranny make a lot of noise if it is going out?

Trans is on the left (drivers) side. You probably have a broken motor mount if it's the right side.
This model has an electronic throttle control (aka drive by wire). On a very cold day it should idle higher than normal on initial start up. How high are you talking though? Obviously it shouldn't be 3k rpms, more like 1500 initially.
