Hey guys, I will try to keep this short but this is a weird situation. So, the basic problem is the car will crank but not start. There is fuel and power to the injectors but no spark or power to the coil packs. I bought the car from someone who knew nothing about Volvo for very cheap thinking I could fix her up. His story was that he stopped at a gas station to fill up and that is the last time it ran. After that once in a while it would run but shut off shortly down the road. So, I buy it to fix and because I do have VIDA/VAIDS and can read the codes. Here is where things get weird. I have a code for just about every accessory on the car and they all work. Also, the fuel gauge is constantly on Empty and the check engine light flickers and the fuel pump kicks in and out when connected to VIDA. I will post the major codes below. VIDA says there is no communication to the ECM or REM and I cannot program anything in them so I think that is true. Anybody have any idea what to test next or what could cause the car to go crazy like this?? I have a good battery, have fuel delivery, and everything else works. ANYTHING would be great!!!

The no communication thing seems really weird to me - I wonder if the thing isn't getting electrical power for some reason. And if that isn't it, then I am wondering if there are wiring issues somewhere along the way.

 

So to update the issues..... with a hard reset we got communication to the ECU but still nothing at all from the REM. We also got the car to start and actually run for about 15 minutes and then it stalled. It keeps stalling for some reason. Also, the fuel pump relay and check engine light click on and off together very frequently for some reason sometimes really fast. The car will only run when the check engine light stays lit. We did find that the ECU or ECM relay was bad and replaced it but that did not seem to change anything. Finally, the only codes I have now are siren fault and no communication to the REM. This one really has some gremlins....... any ideas please send them... we are at a loss.
