There are a few issues that need attention on my 97 S90. But, I am very concerned about one in particular: The engine will randomly start revving up at will. Sometimes it happens while I am at a red light. It also happens while I am driving. The car wants to drive itself. It seems to depress the gas peddle on its own.
One time I left it running and in park while I went inside to get something. When I came out 5 min later it was revved up to 5000 RPM. What is going on? It seems like some kind of sensor.Any thoughts before I take it in to the mechanic?

 

I would guess the idle control valve. I had a 740 GLE that was doing that but it would only rev to 1,500 rpm. 5,000 is a lot. Yikes!!! Maybe it has a Toyota icv in it.
