RE: You know you drive an S60 when...
I havethree S60's. I'm considering selling one or two and buying an ..........S60R! I don't have any other cars. I've driven Volvos for years. I could choose another make, but I don't know why I would. Well, the new M3 does look nice.
Nah. An S60R or V70R is where I'm heading.
The seats are standard Volvo. That means that they're the best production seats you can find. Likewise, the safety, sound systems and fun-factor are definitely above almost everything out there. I've driven my 2001 2.4T and had many thunbs-up from pretty girls. These cars really are "For Life." Its a good life, too. If you want to up the fun-factor, go for one that has some of the toys...Maybe a T5 or AWD with some upgrades. The reliability factor is excellent. I note that Consumer Reports includes the S60 as one of the most recommended cars available.
Find a good mechanic who won't charge dealership prices and go for it!
By the way... The answer to the thread title question is.... When you smile a lot!

... when you're driving along and you see your reflection in a shop window and just go "Wow! That's me in that amazingly beautiful car!"
... you wake up at night and have to look out the window just to gaze at your S60 because it's so beautiful.
... you think you've bought the TARDIS, because it looks compact from the outside, and inside feels like it's so spacious you could move in with your family.
... you look in disdain at BMW, Audi and Merc drivers, and know you're cleverer than they are.
... you've driven hundreds of miles, still feel great, and still want more.
... you get to say these things in this forum.

Either way, seats are perhaps the thing Volvo does best.

Aren't the seats in the R more heavily bolstered than those in the regular S60?
Either way, seats are perhaps the thing Volvo does best.

..... when your car is the best car you've ever owned
.... after 2 months you still look at your car and fall in love all over again cause its just that perfect
.... when you have a car thats considered higher end/luxury and look at an equally loaded beemer or benz and realize they paid about $10,000 more for a car that may be as flashy but still isn't the safest car on the road "Volvo for life"

I should have stated that the seats in an S60 are standard Volvo. Most people won't ever even see the seats in an "R." On the same note, the seats in a friend's 1970 142S are what lead me to purchase a Volvo in the first place. I've had a number of Volvos, since then, and they just keeping getting better!
....when some of your most prized pieces of artwork decorating the living room are from old Volvos. I was even given a custom made Volvo clock, last Xmas. Maybe I'll put some car seats in the home theatre?

Yeah, that's one thing that cracks me up. "3) People ask you what you do becuase you must be rich. " There's that mentality that because BMW's and Mercedes are expensive (we Volvo ownersknow that "overpriced" is the correct word), every other nice car has tohave a mind-boggling pricetag.

I always feel like people are disappointed when I tell them I don't make as much as they must think.
Ithink their true disappointment comes because they spent the same amount of money as I didbut they bought abrand new enconomy pile of crap; While Ipurchased a usedS60 andI'm always talking about my car and it's different awesome features.I did that whole new economy car bit, (01 Ford Focus). At the end of my loan I decided I'd get something with a little more character because I personally am not equivilent to a Ford Focus. If I were a car, I would be more like a Volvo. But painted like a great white shark.

You know you drive an S-60 when a friend you haven't seen in a few years sees your car for the first time and says "man this car will run forever" My reply was well it has 154,000 miles on it and he says "you can put another 150,000 on this car, I can't believe how nice this car is, wheredid you get it?"
