How hard to replace front sensors on 1999 S60 T6? I did rears WITHOUT dropping the exhaust. Now may need to do fronts due to intermittent no signal from B2 S1. Thanks!

You should have to drop the exhaust to do it.

I am thinking, somebody may find this useful some day.

My T6 had P0030: HO2S Heater Control Circuit Bank 1 Sensor 1; performance was a nightmare. I would reset the codes and the car would behave better but then the code would reappear on second start and the problems would start all over again. I had considered the worst had happened and was in the process of ordering new O2 sensors when I saw a write up about possible causes of P0030 as listed:
- Heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS) Bank 1 Sensor 1 circuit open shorted to ground
- Heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS) Bank 1 Sensor 1 circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty Heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS) Bank 1 Sensor 1 circuit
- Heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS) Bank 1 Sensor 1 circuit fuse
- Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)

Looking at that list I sought to eliminate the obvious:
- I replaced the fuse and cleared the code but it returned after a short drive.
- next I jacked up the car and traced the wires and inspected the connectors. of note was the amount of dirty and oil around the connectors. The connector apparently sits directly under the oil and ATF fillers in my car. I did a thorough job of cleaning the contacts with a solvent and put back everything. The result has been: I have restarted the car many times and driven it over the past 2 days covering over 50km and the code has simply refused to resurface - the car is back to itself!

My conclusion was that it was simply a poor connection that was causing all this and I would suggest it best to try and address the other possibilities before rushing to replace a part that could still be working well! I saved over $400 by simply doing what I did - am not a mechanic; am a DIYer!

thanks for the info Rio---I don't get the p0030 code yet!! I get many others. But when I get the p0030 code I'll know what to check first!!! 1999 T6 currently has about 300K miles---speedo stopped clicking off @ 194560 miles over 2 years ago!! Still original exhaust!! But I do have the stuck tranny valve syndrome--so I think I'm gonna run her till the tranny says--NO MORE GO FOWARD!!!!! good luck with yours--Ron
