My temp sensor is a bit off by 2 to 3 degrees so I want to clean it (if possible, or replace it), but I have no idea where it is. On my H3 it's behind the front grill. On this car I don't even know where to start looking.

Anybody know where it is or if you CAN clean it?

 

It is built into the side veiw mirrors.
I believe the R/S mirror is for the guage the L/S one feed the ECU I believe.

 

Why does the ECU have or need a temp sensor there? Wouldn't it be in the air intake somewhere?

 

Im not sure why they did it but I think that is how it is setup.

 

Is it easy to take apart or not worth it?

 

IMO not worth it.
To get to the sensor mirror has to come off and so does the door panel.

 

I have two words for that:

FORGET THAT!

It took me weeks just to get those crappy-*** door panels to stop making noise. I'll have to give my wife the bad news, that her temp. guage is going to have to be a degree or two off permanently lol.

I'll just clean the mirrors and put a good coat of wax on them, like that's going to help the temps at all lol. Oh well. I dont care as much as she does. As long as it's accurate withint 5 degrees I'm happy it even has one.
