1998 volvo v70 base model 57k
I have been given a 1998 v70 base, white, clean title, with 57k original miles, in good condition. This car have been in FL for over half it's life being driven only a few hundred miles a year while my parents were on vacation. When the car was not being used it was parked under a tree. My reason for this posting is to the servicing of this car, meaning that very little has been done. This car being seventeen years old I'm guessing with need full servicing and correct me if I'm wrong. Timing and serpentine belts and WP, new fluids, hoses, filters, plugs, wires, ect. I am not new to volvo and have average wrenching ability. I'm curious if I would be going overboard with car or should just wait and see what breaks. Any input greatly appreciated.

I would certainly replace the timing belt and serpentine belt. Water pump is your call. Flush the coolant and brake fluid. Change the oil. Replace the spark plugs. Check the tires for dryrot. And test the battery and replace If necessary.
Check the hoses, air filter, cap and rotor and replace if needed.
