I purchased a well kept, great running, 1999 V70 wagon. The heat and ac work but the climate controls for the vent do not work. After pulling the controls out, I realized there are no longer any cables. I need to purchase a heat box with actuator and cables. I found new and used actuators. But I cannot find the cables. Any suggestions where I can find them?
So a Voluparts representative said it doesn't have this heat box and recommended running a wire to the blend door, if operable, and flip it manually. Not sure how to do that. Has anyone used an auxiliary heater in the cab that actually was a useful addition to mitigating cold and defrosting?
There is another large Volvo junkyard here in Atlanta. I Don't recommend them - but link is below and they might have what you need. I'm pretty sure the cable part # is the one listed below - and fits the the cars listed (with manual climate control)
Those are pretty rare in my experience, so if nobody sells that, it'll be junkyard, and you'll need to look at 10 cars to find 1 with manual controls.
You can pilfer through all the junkyards everywhere in North America with car-part.com; that is its purpose. It does have the precision you need, but that depends on the accuracy of the data that was put in by individual junkyards. It currently has hundreds of cars listed with these cables.
P.S. I recall thinking to myself on the 850 that I didn't want to take that control head apart to get the mode control cables out. You may find the 1999 is the same way. It may be much preferable to get the control head with good cables all together.
