Default 2000 V70 NO Power

I have a 2000 V70 non turbo, with 205,000 miles. It has an issue that I can't find in any other thread, and you guys have always been great at helping. On a trip out of town at a stop when we got back in and I started the car it started idling very rough and had no power. I turned off and restarted several times, every time it was in this condition. It was low on gas (2gal left in tank) and there was a gas station just down the road a couple of miles so I drive to the gas station and but high test 93 octane in it and it ran great (normal) now that I am home it is 'sick' again. The codes were P1651 and P0221. And the check engine light is on. So I cleaned the throttle body and new gasket but no improvement. When it revs up to 2000 rpm it is smooth, but no power. Top speed 45-50mph and very slow take off.
Any ideas or direction would be very much appreciated.

Great info. Have you googled the codes? What do they mean?

Default Got the codes

I took the car out last weekend so I could get the codes read again to share here.
1st code: is P0221
P0221 - Throttle/Petal Position Sensor/Switch 'B' Circuit Range/Performance Problem

2nd code: P1620 SBDS Interactive Codes No real answer
3rd code: P1600 Loss of KAM Power; Open Circuit - not sure what that means
4th code: P1601 ECM/TCM Serial Communication Error

and to add to the mix, out of 15 starts this weekend 11 it started into 'NORMAL' contidtion full power all normal. and one time the check engine light when off! The other 4 or 5 starts it started into the 'SICK' contidion, no power. my real question is if i relplace the the Throttle body do you think it will fix it.
thank you in advance!!

Default V70 update

Ok the saga continues. I would love any more ideas.
I pulled a yellow labeled Throttle body from a 01 V70 from a junk yard. Put it in with no issues. However, it idles really rough. Almost like it is misfiring. Runs good on the road while I am speeding up, then when I coast or let up on the gas, it chugs.
I think I read that the ‘Yellow’ tagged were the ‘New’ upgraded Throttle body right?
Do I need to get it a software update? If so anyplace other than the sealer?
You guys are so smart, I sure apprentice your help.

I just bought a used yellow label TB which was replaced on 2005. I disconnected the batt for 2 hrs and replaced it and it fired right up and runs 100%. I thought it had to be programed from the dealer? Did I get lucky?

Typically you need to have the dealer re-flash the throttle body to get it to work with your car when you replace but I guess it's possible to get one that matches the settings in your car. In Jim_Penrod's situation I would have cleaned the throttle body I pulled from the junk yard before putting it in the car. I also would have brought it to have it re-flashed at the dealer given it is still idling rough. There might be another issue with the car or that throttle body you installed might also be bad. Have you ever replaced the fuel pump (205k miles is plenty) or replaced the fuel filter recently? Have the ignition coils ever been replaced? Those codes mainly point to the throttle body ETS issue.

Default Thanks and update

Thanks NUT. You just increased my 'Honey-to-do List’ good things to replace.
Update. I did clean it before i re-installed the TB, I took it to the dealer with it running rough. And they re-flashed it for 140.00 and it runs prefect. I had a question if they could re-flash it and they said about 98% of the time they can and mine worked great. My MPG is where it was before (28+ on highway).
Thanks for all you help and I hope this helps someone. My total cost was 32.00 for TB and 140.00 re-flash. 172.00 whole lot better than 1500.00.
Good luck if you find yourself here. You can do it!
