Hi everybody!

Question up front - What Volvo wagon models from 1997-1999 had factory roof racks?

Background - I just bought a used 99 V70 and it did not have a roof rack. I went to a pick-n-pull in the Bay area and grabbed a factory roof rack with cross bars and factory cut trim from one of the many 97-99 wagons on the lot ($30!).

I am trying to get some bike mounting equipment (Yakima) and have found that I need Yakima cross bars to do what I have in mind to transport my bikes. In order to assure I order the right rail grab towers, I need to know what models had the roof rack. Everything I've seen on Google suggests the baseline V70 did not have the option for the roof rack. But, my Google search led me to this forum.

they were available on all 850, v70, and xc70 wagons 1994-2007 for sure.

 

I mounted a yak-rak I had laying around to my v70. I just drilled holes, tapped em, and put some stainless machine screws with blue loctite and a silicone sealer. Plenty of meat in the rain gutters for some DIY fun. Had to cut out little sections of the trim pieces, but it looks good from 10 feet away, and it looks stockish.

 

My 1997 960 has them, std on the wagons

 

All of them as an option. The 850 rails are thinner than the V70 rails.

 

I have a 99 with roof racks, I can also put the cross bars on my 2003 xc70..


Edit its a 98 with roof racks...eeek I forget what cars I have.

 

How much weight would ya'll guess the roof rack can hold? My main concern is the structural integrity of the roof rain gutters, as I rigged up the yakima mounts to the to of either side of the gutter.......
