Bonnet won't lift up
Hi
I hope someone can help....
My family has a '98 V70XC AWD. Anyway I was going to top up the coolant, and the oil since it leaks a bit and it has been idol for about 6 months and I want to drive it.
When I tried to open the bonnet it just won't open. I can feel the catch and the left front side goes up but the right side doesn't seem to pop up. It really feels like the catch isn't doing anything it seems very loose?
I might try again tomorrow. If I can find something thin to try and manually push the catches
It is due for a service anyway but it could be something as simple as there are 2 catches on the bonnet.
Any suggestions no matter how small are appreciated
I will try and upload some images and maybe a video for further reference tomorrow
thanks

Hi,
My '98 AWD just started doing the same thing. The first time, I asked the guy at the next fuel pump to hold the outside hood release handle (center) while I re-pulled the inside handle. It worked. This morning, I opened the hood so the passenger side catch released, then re-pulled the inside handle. I heard the driver's side catch let go, and the hood opened as it should when I pulled the center handle and lifted. That seems to be the correct technique for now. Good luck.

Mine does the same. tried adjusting to no avail. If a friend isnt available to help I usually pull it once. go outside and stick my wallet on the grill to put some tension on it, and pull again. It looks silly. but it works.
