drive shaft

drive shaft
I have a '00 v70 xc AWD wagon. I recently had the main drive shaft (running length wise along the bottom of the car) which connects at the front end replaced. The mechanic told me where the shaft connects to the front end, there was a bearing of bushing which was worn which made the sound I was hearing-a clanking, almost like I was dragging something metal. The same noise is back. Supposedly the mechanic replaced the shaft and bearing/bushing. I am assuming there is something else causing the shaft to wear out the bearing? Can somebody please let me know if they can think of what may be the bigger issue?

Did they have the shaft balanced? That would do the same as with tires and wear.
Maybe the transmission mount is worn out and allowing the tranny to move too much causing the bearings to wear? Not a mechanic but have had our 1998 V70XC drive shaft replaced with new plus bearings and have had no further complications.

it could be the center carrier bearing. or hanger. hopefully the hanger. is the driveshaft your mechanic installed brand new, refurbished, or junk yard? its possible that the mechanic didn't tighten the bolts on the center carrier bearing hanger.-thats my own terminology, but it is a bracket that holds the center carrier bearing- the carrier bearing holds the driveshaft. if this is the case you should be able to see the middle of the driveshaft hanging down while looking from beside the car.
