I came across a '98 T5 in a junkyard. I'm under the impression that the ECU adds some hp in a standard turbo model, yes? That being the case, before I buy it, what numbers should I be looking for to verify that it's the correct computer?

I have a '98 T5, and these are my computers...



The one in the junkyard has these computers...



Same year cars, same models, but obviously the computers have different numbers for both the engine and auto trans.

Any info on identifying various computers would be appreciated.

Not sure if you'll see any performance upgrade or if it will even work, but the top one in each picture is your ECM.
