With enough time and money anything is possible but it will be somewhat difficult. What is the engine number of each engine?

The accessories AC compressor, alternator, and power steering all mount differently but you can fabricate mounting bars and have them heliarc welded onto the block. The sensors will all be different as well.

Remember in 1999 the 70 series went to electronic throttle bodies. unless you swap everything over including all the wiring and ecu it will not be possible.

It may not be legal, depending on your state inspection requirement on OBDII compliance.

The only long block difference that I know of is on the heads. 98 has one coil. after that year the 5 cylinders incorporated the coils at the plugs. They are bolted down, the 98 will not have the threaded holes. Tap 5 holes everything else should transfer over to the donor engine from the car.
