Newbie with 2000 V70 GLT. Howdy.
Well, I decided to try and get our driveway storage locker running again. Replaced the battery and fired it up; not bad. I thought I could detect an exhaust leak beneath the driver's seat. I shut the engine off and placed the car on four jackstands to explore the underside; found no apertures in the exhaust system...but the exhaust pipe was noisy anyway. (Our old Volvo has been out of service for about 24 months; the annoying "check engine" light and unsuccessful tries to make the system compliant failed. I let the project rest...and rest...) The car has 121K miles and was regularly serviced by the original owners. It just began acting like...an old car, you know. I'm a dedicated driveway mechanic (still have a '62 aircooled Beetle after 38 years) and want to resurrect this Volvo. Anyone here done any work on the exhaust/catalytic system-? (A parts-store computer told me it was suspicious of the catalytic equipment.) This car was my wife's mom's daily driver...it's kind of an heirloom. Must get back to work. Thanks, all--
