Default P0130, P0722, Reprogram ECM

Hi, I bought a $40 diagnostic device, plugged it in and got:

P0130: "02 Circuit, Bank 1"

P0722: "Output shaft speed sensor circuit, no signal"

Also: Replace oxygen sensors, reprogram engine control module.

Also, the orange blinking arrow goes on, the speedometer goes dead, and I have to manually shift from low when coming off a stop.

Any suggestions where I should start, what I should be on the look-out for? I'm not a mechanic, but hoping to become one for this car.

Any comments welcome. Thank you.

P0130 is telling you the ECU is not getting a signal from the front oxygen sensor. you can start by checking fuses and then test for continuity at the connector (most models have the connector up on the firewall - note there are two sensors, one ahead of the cat which manages fuel trim and one behind which measure cat efficiency. The P0722 is saying the ECU is not getting a signal from the speed sensor. This sensor actually routes into the ABS controller which then talks to the TCU (transmission computer) and then onto to the ECU. Start by reading up on symptoms for a failing ABS controller board - common on these models as they develop cracks in the solder joints and that explains an intermittant loss of signal (ie where the speedo drops to zero, CEL comes on etc. Could be the ABS controller board speed sensor as well or a bad connection at a connector so you may need to clean up some of the contacts. Three places that fix ABS boards are Rocha-tek, Midwest ABS and Xemodex. you can also drop in a used ABS controller board - they bolt onto the valve body so you don't need to open the system to replace.
