Default Transmission swap questions

Hi, guys. I have an interesting dillemma. I have a 2000 V70 that needs a transmissiom transplant. The specs say 1998-2000 have an aw 50-42 4 speed trans but mine has a 55-50 5 speed that was used in the 2001 and later cars. Evidently Volvo made the switch right at the end of the model year and some late 2000 cars got the new trans (mine was mfg in Aug 2000). Since I can't find a used 2000 5 speed anywhere I have some questions I need help with. How would a 5 speed from a 2001 or later match up electrically? And what kind of problems (electrical or physical) will I encounter if I put the earlier 4 speed trans in? And if I buy a later 5 speed trans from an AWD car (lots of those around, more than FWD) is there any difference in the transaxle or is the AWD integral? And are there any other pitfalls I haven't thought of?? Any thoughts, ideas or knowledge will be much appreciated. Thanks
