V70 vs XC70 vs S70

V70 vs XC70 vs S70
Good Day.
New to the Volvo world.
Looking at a 99 S70 and a 99 XC70, both AWD.
Other than the Sedan/Wagon aspect, can someone clue me in on the differences between S70, V70 and XC70?
The S70 I am looking at has a lot less miles (150km vs 190km) than the XC and is also priced quite a bit less (3995 vs 4650). The S also has most of its service records and the XC does not. I can also negotiate the S70 down as the seller is moving out of the country in 2 weeks. XC seller seems firm after coming down from $5k
I sure like the space of a wagon, but on the surface it appears the sedan is a better car for a better price. I am not interested in paying that much more for a wagon with 30% more KM on it. If they were the same in all other aspects I probably would pay extra for the wagon.
Is the XC all that special? And then how does a V70 fit into the mix?
