Aftermarket Radio Install on a 2000 XC70
New member here and I am searching for an outline (do's and don'ts) for an aftermarket radio install. Came up empty for the XC70 on the search function. Here is the background. A few months back I purchased a 2000 XC70 Turbo wagon and I love it. Runs great and so far no issues. It has 95,000 miles and I am looking to install an aftermarket radio, speakers and sub. What are the pitfalls? I have read something about using VADIS to do a radio delete, is that really necessary? Also something about disconnecting the battery causing SRS lights? What is the real scoop here? I don't want flashing lights on the dash when it is all done. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!

Just get a wiring harness adapter and an installation kit, both Scosche and Metra both make them. Wire it up and plug it in. If you are adding an amp then you need to follow the instructions for the amp to add it. The connector on the back of the radio, unless it goes through a Volvo amplifier, is directly wired to the speakers. so you can add the amp in before the adapter plug. You may also need an adapter for the antenna lead since the factory Volvo antenna uses a mini Motorola plug.
The only thing that needs to be re-programmed when the battery is removed is the factory radio which will want the anti-theft code entered, since you are not using it that is not a problem. It will also re-zero the what the ECU has learned so your mileage will be reduced for the first tank of gas as the car relearns its sensor settings.
From 2001 and on there is much more software re-loading that has to be done and it would not surprise me if the radio is included.
