Default Radio/CD player code needed

Just bought a 98 v70xc and The dealer threw in a new battery. I know that when the battery dies or the cables are taken off the battery the stereo locks down. How long will it take for it to read "CODE" so I can input the correct code and unlock it? Is there anything special that I'm supposed to do, like leave it on or leave it of?

Supposedly its 2-hours… I tried it today while I was at work. I put my key in the 1 position and left the radio on for 2-hours and 10 minutes or so before I had to go. When I got in my car to go home the radio was still showing off.

I am trying again tonight with the key in the 2 position. I did see a video of a guy who did this repair and he said he just drove his car around and after the radio being on for 2-hours (with 10minutes of driving hear and there) it jsut randomly went to CODE one day. Not sure if you need to be driving for two hours or not, but that was his experience.

here's the link to the video

I popped it in position 1 for 2 hours under my balcony. Taped over all the visibile lights, turned evrrything else off, locked the doors. The radio was "on", or blank, vs showing "off". 2 hrs later and it showed code. Works now.

Good deal. Now you can turn your DAY RUNNING LIGHTS off.
