I'm looking into buying an 01 V70 T5 with 129k on it. Owner states he started it one morning, and as he was backing it out of the driveway the Service Engine System Immediately alert popped up and the car will not rev above 1500 rpms. No check engine light.

I looked at it today and it starts fine but surges. A light tap on the gas pedal evens out the surges and it runs smoothly but will not rev above 1500 rpm - still no check engine light and no codes on my Actron reader.

Engine was a brand new long block at 85k and the trans was brand new at 98k. Car is in great shape on the interior and exterior. He is asking $2k obo.

Thoughts? I need to get back to him today if possible as there are other interested parties.
