02 Base V70. P0500 and Trac/ABS lights
02 V70 base, AT, 130k Code reader only pulls up P0500 which triggers CEL?
Trac/abs lights on constantly even after clearing codes. P0500 comes back on in 5-10 mins of driving which triggers the CEL. Can a P0500 trip the CEL or is my code reader not picking up the fault code that is tripping the CEL.
All dash lights/gauges/speedo/ odometer seem to be working correctly.
Trying to get it to pass CA smog but it wont with CEL on.
All monitors set besides evap/mis but its only had one drive cycle and about 50 miles since codes cleared.
Thanks for any help

Po500 is related to the vehicle speed sensor signal. That signal usually comes from the abs control unit. What codes are stored in other control units? (abs specifically) Or do you only have an OBD emission only code reader that won't talk to other control units?
Abs control units commonly fail with bad solder joints inside. Many companies fix those. A replacement control unit for your car will have to be "coded" with the VIN of your car. In other words a used (or new) one will not be plug and play. A new one requires a software download from Volvo, a used one would require help from someone like xemodex.
A company such as xemodex is a good resource for control units.

see if Autozone will rent/loan you a fully featured code reader with ABS support. the iCarsoft 906 should be a good choice but you may find there are some bluetooth models with ABS support that talk to your phone as well that may interest you. See if IPD or FCP feature any additional models.
