Yes the check engine light does work. I have been having a repeating issue of Knock Sensor 1 & 2. It does not flag the check engine light (Might be different as I am in Australia), shows pending while car is running, then shows confirmed after motor has been stopped, then goes back to pending while the car is running....


It's driving me nuts. I understand that B5xxxx motors are a vacuum motor, and I have been running around plugging what I think might be vacuum leaks and replacing hoses that look suss.


What are things can cause the Knock Sensor to flag up??


Have replaced plugs with Volvo OE plugs.


Have replaced Front and Rear HO2 Sensors with OE ones too


Have had Coils tested, all are good.


Apart from the obvious of a faulty Knock Sensors or Connector.


What other suggestions/advice and or experience of the same problem has others have/had....

After fixing vacuum leak, I get Misfire #4 cyl. & Injector Open. So I have visually check all wiring, replace insulation around wires, fixed coil #4 seating (suspected arc out).


The thing perr's like a kitten. Has plenty of rev in the pedal.


Took it for a quick drive down the end of the road and back. Still running fine. (Except when it gets up to 3000rpm, it backs off).


No other sensors or fault. No check engine light.


Knock Sensor #1 & #2 Pending & Confirmed.


Is it just me or are the knock sensors R/S ????
