Default 2004 V70 various issues

Our 2004 V70 non-turbo has had a variety of issues since we got it that I cannot seem to figure out how to replace. Any thoughts on the matter would be of great help.
  • Windshield spray does not work (front or back, blades do on both). reservoir is full.
  • Neither front seat heaters work but lights come on when selected.

The failure of the windshield spray could be due to repairable failure of the multifunction stalk switch. I have had to restore function of both stalks (windshield on right side and turn signals on left) on my 2004 V70. But my windshield wiper functions were erratic too. If your wipers are fully functional then your problem might not be the stalk switch. Before I did my repair (described below) I could temporarily restore function by rapidly cycling the stalk back and forth. You might try this, but the repair below is not difficult.

There is a good YouTube video and threads here or on the UK volvoforums site on this. To summarize: remove the shroud around the steering column (3 torx bolts). Remove the stalk switch (2 screws). Remove 1 small screw and flip over the little circuit board (can leave it electrically connected). Gently scrape off the grease from the underside, then use a pencil eraser to scrub off the electrical contacts on the underside of the board. No need to scrub the little wiper contacts in the body of the switch and you might damage them if you do. You might then reapply the grease you scraped off, but I didn't do so.

Thanks, I will look into that. Seems like a quick cleaning to try and see if that will work. I'm also going to go back over the fuses and see if I missed something there.

This switch is one of many possible causes, but I would first disconnect the pipe from the nozzle (right under the hood) to see, if screenwash comes off when you actuate the lever, or at least if you hear the noise of the pump. That allows to see if the problem is electrical (faulty switch, fuse, wire or pump) or hydraulical (blocked screenwash tank outtake, torn or blocked pipe, blocked nozzles)...
