changing starter motor
Hi there - a non-start this morning & subsequent investigation leads me to believe the starter motor is packing up on my '02 plate V70 D5 estate.
When turning the ignition key all the other systems came on, lights, fuel pump, etc but no 'clunk' as the starter motor engages. Made sure it wasn't the battery by jumping from another car, disconnected the battery to make sure it wasn't the alarm/immobiliser, checked SM fuse, then bump started in 2nd gear behind another car and it sprang into life. I've driven it around a bit for half an hour & now it starts on the key!!
Unless anyone else has any other wisdom, how easy is it to swap over starter motor units? It seams quite simple ie 3 or 4 bolts but will I have to take the unit out to the left when looking into the engine bay or will the exchange unit 'wriggle past'??
Thanks for your help.
Charlie
