Default Driver Door Master Switch Not Functional

Sometime in the last few days the master switch in my driver door stopped working. I can't adjust mirrors, open/close windows or control the door locks. Verified fuse is ok and changed just in case. Controls on the other doors are functioning as expected. Is this what happens when they fail, or I should be looking at something else as the source of the problem?

Thanks in advance,

Perhaps a wire has come loose when door closed firmly?

I had to replace mine driver master switch recently. All the controls worked except driver window, lock (switch and key fob) and driver power mirror. 'New' switch took <10 minutes to install and now all doors and functions work.

Figured it out. The master control isn't bad, it is the wiring harness and specifically the power into the molex connector is loose. Went to take the connector apart the power cable slid right out. If I push it in and hold it everything works. Now I've got to figure out how to repair without having to buy and install a new door wiring harness.

Thanks,

Problem solved. Power wire still had the correct pin on it and it snapped right back in. I think it must have been loose from the factory and it finally lost the connection when I hit one of those nasty pot holes developing with the spring thaw/freeze cycle. Didn't have to buy a new wiring harness or a new switch and became an expert at removing and installing the door panel.

You have to take the interior door panel off. I found a number of great videos that demonstrated how to do it by searching "v70 door panel removal". Here's an example.

Default window controls

I have a 99 C70 convertible, couple weeks ago I noticed a smell, thought it was leaking coolant. No leaks found, then a day or two later I had smoke from my drivers door. I immediately pulled over popped off the panel but found nothing. Now the window switch stopped working as well as the mirror control. The door lock and trunk and fuel door still work
. I checked the fuses and everything seems intact. Any suggestions?

I guess I would pull the panel off and check the harness and the switch for any smoke or heat damage. I'm only familiar with the 2005 V70 and there was just one harness for the whole door, including the lock, so it should be a pretty easy investigation (except for the whole door removal part.).

An arcing wire will cause heat and then smoke.
