EGR 2005 xc70 d5
Hi There
Ive got a 2005 xc70 d5 p2, it failed its test on emissions, EGR seems to be the culprit, 3 years ago I removed it and was choked with soot and oily, cleaned it and checked the relay and has been running fine. now on high revs its emitting black smoke from the exhaust, I removed the EGR again and checked it, thin film of soot but pretty clean, put twelve volts through the stepping motor and it snaps back and forth no problem, put it all back together and still the same problem, tried a blank on the EGR with hole, high emissions service came up and still black smoke, blanked the hole and now the smoke has gone but I still have the high emissions service message. Will this fail the MOT ? im guessing as the blanking stopped excess fuel mixing with the air its not injectors, the intercooler was replaced a couple of years ago, replaced the front vacuum mount which was leaking and there's now a bit of a slow leak from the back mount, blanked the pipe to the mounts which made it worse, TCV's working fine, anybody any ideas ?
